WooCommerce shipping rates that cover the real carrier cost
Example: a $20.00 ex GST table rate on an order that costs $62.40 ex GST to reach Karratha loses $42.40 ex GST. Sixty of those a month is $2,544.00 ex GST.
WooCommerce shipping zones know the state and maybe the postcode. They do not know your carrier's cubic factor or this month's fuel levy.
The plugin
Forensik for WooCommerce sends your orders to Forensik and, on plans with checkout pricing, asks Forensik for live rates. Forensik never holds your WooCommerce login or API keys: the plugin holds one Forensik key and does the talking.
Live checkout rates are on Growth and above, and in the 14-day trial. On Starter, orders still come in and checkout uses your store's other shipping methods.
Store orders arrive without a connote. Forensik ties each carrier invoice line to its order by tracking number or order number where it has them. Any line it cannot tie waits on a review list for you to confirm, or for you to upload a list of orders and connotes.
Setup steps
- On Integrations in Forensik, download Forensik for WooCommerce as a zip. You need to be a Master Admin with a verified email.
- In WordPress, go to Plugins, Add New, Upload Plugin. Install the zip and activate it.
- In Forensik, select Create key and copy it straight away, because it is shown once. In WordPress, go to WooCommerce, Forensik, paste it and save.
- On the same page, press Test connection. The store shows as Connected on the Forensik card.
- For live rates, go to WooCommerce, Settings, Shipping, open your Australian zone and add Forensik live rates. Then choose Ex GST or Inc GST and set a fallback rate if you want one.
Which orders are sent
Orders at Processing, Completed or On hold are sent as their status changes, and an hourly check resends any that did not get through. Forensik uses the delivery address, never billing, and receives the suburb, state, postcode, customer name, SKUs, quantities and shipping charged. Orders must be in AUD to an Australian address.
Worked example, with example numbers
Example numbers: a Perth store sends an order to Karratha with a carrier cost of $62.40 ex GST, at a 30% markup.
Forensik's price is $81.12 ex GST.
With Ex GST chosen, WooCommerce adds GST from your tax settings: $8.11 ex GST of GST, $89.23 inc GST at checkout.
Questions
- What if Forensik is slow at checkout?
- The rates timeout is yours to set, from 1 to 10 seconds, and defaults to 3. After that the fallback rate shows, or your other shipping methods if you set none.
- Can I connect more than one store?
- Yes, with one key per store. Each store counts towards your plan's store limit.
- How do I disconnect?
- Select Disconnect next to the store on the Forensik card. Its key is revoked straight away, so rates and order sync both stop.

Forensik prices every shipment from your own rate cards and checks every carrier invoice line against them.
