Connect WooCommerce

Install the Forensik for WooCommerce plugin, connect it with a key, add live rates to your shipping zone, and learn which orders are sent to Forensik.

WooCommerce connects through the Forensik for WooCommerce plugin. The plugin sends your orders to Forensik as they come in and, on Growth and above, asks Forensik for live freight rates at checkout. Forensik never holds your WooCommerce login or API keys: the plugin holds one Forensik key and does the talking.

Before you start

  • In Forensik you need to be a Master Admin, and your email address must be verified.
  • In WordPress you need to be able to install plugins and manage WooCommerce.
  • Each connected store counts towards your plan's store limit.

Set it up

Open Integrations at /integrations and find the WooCommerce card. It lists four steps.

  1. Download the plugin. Select Forensik for WooCommerce (.zip).
  2. Upload it to WordPress. In your WordPress admin go to Plugins, Add New, Upload Plugin. Choose the zip, press Install Now, then Activate.
  3. Create a key and paste it in the plugin. Back in Forensik, select Create key. Copy the key straight away: it is shown once and cannot be shown again. In WordPress go to WooCommerce, Forensik, paste the key and save. Keys start with fck_.
  4. Test the connection. On the plugin's settings page press Test connection. Forensik shows "Waiting for your store to connect" and the store appears on the card, marked Connected, once the test gets through. Select Check again if it does not appear.

Use one key per store. To connect a second store, select Create a key for another store.

Turn on live rates

Live rates are on the Growth plan and above, including the free trial. On Starter, orders still sync, and checkout uses your store's other shipping methods.

  1. In WordPress go to WooCommerce, Settings, Shipping.
  2. Open your Australian shipping zone and add the method Forensik live rates.
  3. On the plugin's settings page (WooCommerce, Forensik), choose Rates at checkout: Ex GST if WooCommerce adds GST from its tax settings, or Inc GST if no tax is added on top.
  4. Set a Fallback rate and its name if you want one. It is shown when Forensik is slow or cannot price the cart. Leave the amount blank for no fallback; your other shipping methods still apply.
  5. Rates timeout (seconds) is how long checkout waits for Forensik, from 1 to 10 seconds. The default is 3.

Which orders are sent

With Order sync ticked in the plugin, each order is sent when its status changes, and an hourly check resends any that did not get through.

  • Orders with status Processing, Completed or On hold are sent to Forensik.
  • If an order Forensik already has becomes Cancelled, Refunded or Failed, Forensik marks it cancelled. If it is already on a consignment, its charge is reversed and the carrier cost stays.
  • Other statuses (such as Pending payment) wait until the order reaches one of the statuses above.

Forensik uses the delivery (shipping) address, never the billing address. Only the delivery suburb, state and postcode, the customer name, SKUs, quantities and the shipping charged are sent. Orders must be in AUD to an Australian address. A product with no SKU still comes through, but its line shows as cannot price until you fix it.

Sent orders appear on the Orders page. Each WooCommerce order has a Forensik box showing whether Forensik received it.

Store orders arrive without a connote. Forensik ties a carrier's invoice line to its order by the tracking number (from version 1.0.1 of the plugin, with the WooCommerce Shipment Tracking extension or the plugin's filter), then by your reference against the order number. Lines it cannot tie wait on the review list; see how invoice lines are matched.

Disconnect

On the WooCommerce card, select Disconnect next to the store. Its key is revoked straight away: checkout stops getting Forensik rates and orders stop syncing. To reconnect, create a new key and test the connection again.
