Connect Magento (Adobe Commerce)

Install the Forensik extension on Magento 2.4 or Adobe Commerce, connect it with a key, turn on live rates and learn which orders are sent.

Magento connects through the Forensik for Magento extension (module Forensik_Freight). It works the same way as the WooCommerce plugin: the extension holds one Forensik key, sends your orders to Forensik and, on Growth and above, asks Forensik for live rates at checkout. Forensik never holds your Magento admin credentials.

The Magento extension is new. If anything does not behave as described here, contact support and we will work through it with you or your developer.

Before you start

  • Magento Open Source or Adobe Commerce 2.4, on PHP 8.1 to 8.4.
  • Magento cron must be running. Orders are sent by cron, so without it nothing reaches Forensik.
  • Someone who can install modules on the Magento server, usually your developer.
  • In Forensik you need to be a Master Admin with a verified email address.
  • Each connected store counts towards your plan's store limit.

Set it up

Open Integrations at /integrations and find the Magento (Adobe Commerce) card.

  1. Download the extension. Select Forensik for Magento (.zip).
  2. Install it on your Magento server. Unzip it into app/code/Forensik/Freight, then run bin/magento module:enable Forensik_Freight, bin/magento setup:upgrade and bin/magento cache:flush. In production mode, also run setup:di:compile and setup:static-content:deploy. Your developer can install it with Composer from the zip instead.
  3. Create a key. In Forensik select Create key and copy it straight away: it is shown once. In the Magento admin go to Stores, Configuration, Sales, Forensik, paste the key and select Save Config.
  4. Test the connection. On the same Magento page press Test connection. The store appears on the Forensik card, marked Connected, and orders from the last 30 days are queued to send.

Use one key per Magento installation. Settings are at the default scope only. Leave the Forensik address setting as it is unless support asks you to change it.

Turn on live rates

Live rates are on the Growth plan and above, including the free trial.

  1. In the Magento admin go to Stores, Configuration, Sales, Delivery Methods.
  2. Under Forensik live rates, set Enabled to Yes. It is limited to Australia by default.
  3. Under Forensik, Checkout rates, choose how rates are shown. Ex GST (the default) lets Magento add GST through your shipping tax class. Inc GST sends the price including GST; set the shipping tax class to None so GST is not added twice.
  4. Set a fallback rate if you want one. It is shown if Forensik does not answer within the rates timeout (3 seconds by default, 1 to 10), cannot price the cart, or errors. With no fallback, your other shipping methods apply.

Which orders are sent

  • Orders in the Magento state processing, complete or holded (on hold) are queued, and cron sends them within about a minute.
  • canceled and closed (refunded in full) cancel the order in Forensik. If it is already on a consignment, its charge is reversed and the carrier cost stays.
  • Failed sends are retried with a growing wait, and an hourly check queues recent orders that never made it.

Forensik uses the delivery address, never billing, and never receives the street, email or phone. Orders must be in AUD to an Australian address. Each Magento order is taken once, so a resend never makes a second order. Sent orders appear on the Orders page.

Store orders arrive without a connote. Forensik ties a carrier's invoice line to its order by the shipment's tracking number (from version 1.0.1 of the extension), then by your reference against the order number. Lines it cannot tie wait on the review list; see how invoice lines are matched.

Disconnect

On the Magento card in Forensik, select Disconnect next to the store. Its key is revoked: checkout stops getting Forensik rates and orders stop syncing. To remove the extension itself, run bin/magento module:disable Forensik_Freight and bin/magento setup:upgrade, then delete app/code/Forensik/Freight.

The key and connection messages are the same as for WooCommerce. See WooCommerce connection errors.
