Shopify connection errors
What to do when connecting Shopify does not finish, the store is linked to another organisation, or a sync skips orders.
Connecting Shopify sends you to Shopify to approve the app and then back to the Integrations page. When something goes wrong on the way back, the Shopify card still shows Not connected, a message appears at the top of the page and the page address ends in ?error= followed by a short code. The sections below explain each code and message. For the normal steps, see Connect Shopify.
Connection did not finish
The Shopify connection did not finish (code). Press Connect to try again.
The code in brackets is one of missing_params, invalid_shop, invalid_hmac, auth_failed, missing_state, invalid_state, expired_state or shop_mismatch.
Cause. Forensik refuses a connection it cannot prove is genuine. The codes mean:
missing_paramsorinvalid_shop: Shopify did not send a valid myshopify.com store address back.invalid_hmac: Shopify's signature on the reply did not check out.missing_stateorinvalid_state: the browser that came back is not the one that started, or its cookies were blocked or cleared.expired_state: more than 10 minutes passed between selecting Connect and approving in Shopify.shop_mismatch: you approved the app in a different store from the one you typed in Forensik.auth_failed: Shopify did not hand over access when Forensik asked for it.
Fix. Start again from Integrations, Connect. Type the store's myshopify.com address exactly, use the same browser window from start to finish, allow cookies for Forensik, and approve in Shopify within 10 minutes. If you are signed in to several Shopify stores, make sure you approve in the one you typed.
When to contact support. If you get invalid_hmac or auth_failed twice in a row, or the same code keeps coming back after following the steps above.
Shopify is not available yet
Shopify is not configured on this Forensik server yet.
The Connect window may say "Shopify not configured" instead.
Cause. The Shopify app connection is a Forensik server setting, and it is not set up on the Forensik system you are using. Nothing you change will fix it.
Fix. While you wait, load your orders from a file on the Orders page. See Import orders.
When to contact support. Straight away, so we can switch it on. Contact support.
Store connected to another organisation
This Shopify store is connected to another Forensik organisation.
Cause. A Shopify store can be connected to only one Forensik organisation at a time, and this one is already connected elsewhere. You may see the code shop_linked_elsewhere in the address instead.
Fix. If you also belong to the other organisation, sign in to it and uninstall the Forensik app from the Shopify admin, then connect again from the organisation you want. If you meant to work in the other organisation, switch to it at sign-in.
When to contact support. If you do not know which organisation holds the store, or nobody you know has access to it.
Shopify is not connected
Shopify is not connected
Cause. You tried to sync orders or change live checkout rate settings, but Forensik has no active connection to the store. This happens after the Forensik app is uninstalled in Shopify, which disconnects the store.
Fix. Select Connect on the Shopify card and approve the app again. Your earlier data in Forensik is kept.
When to contact support. If the card shows Connected but you still get this message.
Some orders were skipped
Orders were skipped during a Shopify sync.
Cause. Sync takes orders created in the last 30 days. Orders Forensik already has are skipped, so the same order is never taken twice. An order Forensik could not read is counted as an error. Orders older than 30 days are not part of a sync at all.
Fix. Skipped orders that are already in Forensik need nothing. For orders you expect but cannot find on the Orders page, including anything older than 30 days, import them from a file. See Import orders.
When to contact support. If recent orders are missing from the Orders page after a sync. Contact support with your shop domain and a few of the missing order numbers.
