Connect Shopify

Connect your Shopify store to Forensik through Shopify's authorisation screen, what Forensik asks permission for, and what the Sync button does.

Connecting Shopify lets Forensik read your store's orders and, on Growth and above, set the freight price your checkout shows. You connect from the Integrations page at /integrations.

Before you start

  • You need to be a Master Admin or Editor in Forensik.
  • Your email address must be verified. If it is not, the connection is refused with "Verify your email address first". See Email not verified.
  • You need to be able to approve apps in the Shopify store, usually as the store owner or a staff member with app permissions.
  • Each connected store counts towards your plan's store limit. See Plans and limits.

Connect

  1. On Integrations, find the Shopify card and select Connect.
  2. In Shop domain, enter your store's myshopify.com address, for example mystore.myshopify.com. You can enter just mystore and Forensik adds the rest. Your own domain (such as www.mystore.com.au) is not accepted: use the myshopify.com address shown in your Shopify admin.
  3. Select Connect. Forensik sends you to Shopify.
  4. Shopify shows the permissions Forensik is asking for. Approve them.
  5. Shopify sends you back to Integrations, where the Shopify card now shows Connected and your shop domain.

Finish the Shopify screen within 10 minutes of selecting Connect, in the same browser. If you take longer, or open the link somewhere else, the connection does not finish and you need to start again. See Shopify connection errors.

What Forensik asks permission for

  • Read orders, so Forensik can take your orders.
  • Read products.
  • Write shipping, so Forensik can add its live rates to your checkout when you turn them on.

One organisation per store

A Shopify store can be connected to only one Forensik organisation at a time. If the store is already connected to another organisation, the connection is refused. Disconnect it there first.

Sync

Once connected, the card shows a Sync button and the time of the last sync. Sync asks Shopify for orders created in the last 30 days. Orders Forensik already has are skipped, so running Sync again does not double up.

The Sync button does not show a count of what it took. If orders you expect are not on the Orders page after a sync, import them with the order file instead (see Import orders) and contact support so we can look at the store connection.

Store orders arrive without a connote. Forensik ties a carrier's invoice line to its order by the tracking number on the Shopify fulfilment, then by your reference against the order number. Lines it cannot tie wait on the review list; see how invoice lines are matched.

Live checkout rates

Once the store is connected, a Live checkout rates panel appears under the Shopify card. Live rates are on Growth and above (your trial included). See Shopify checkout rates.

Disconnect

There is no Disconnect button for Shopify in Forensik. To disconnect, uninstall the Forensik app from your Shopify admin. Shopify tells Forensik, and Forensik marks the store disconnected, clears its access, turns off live checkout rates and stops syncing. Your orders, consignments and other records in Forensik stay.

To connect again later, use Connect on the Shopify card.
