Test a quote
Price a cart the way your checkout would, with every service that can carry it, the expected cost, the margin and the working line by line.
Test a Quote (/test-quote) shows the price your checkout would show for a cart, worked through step by step. It uses the approved rate cards, fuel levies and markups in force right now, exactly as checkout does. Open it from Test a quote on the Pricing page.
Enter the cart
- Ships from: choose the warehouse. If you have none yet, add one under Orders, Warehouses first.
- Enter the Delivery suburb, State and 4-digit Postcode.
- Under Cart, choose a SKU and enter the quantity. Choose Add line for more products.
- Choose Get prices.
Read the results
Prices, cheapest first lists each service that could price the cart, with:
- Service: the carrier and service, with its delivery commitment if you set one;
- Customer pays (ex GST): the freight price your checkout would show;
- GST and Inc GST. If your organisation is not GST registered, no GST is added and the page says so;
- Expected cost: what the carrier should charge you, ex GST;
- Margin: the price less the expected cost, in red when it is negative.
A Free freight badge marks a service where free freight applies.
Choose Show working to see each line of the cart:
- Line, SKU and Qty;
- Rated kg: the line's rated weight;
- Share: the line's share of the consignment's rated weight;
- Cost share: its share of the carrier cost;
- Markup: the percentage and where it came from (SKU, SKU postcode, category or global), or free freight. A line that fell back from a postcode markup says so;
- Price: the line's price ex GST.
Each result has a quote reference. A test quote cannot be attached to an order.
When a cart cannot be priced
If a line names a SKU Forensik does not know, or one with no cartons, the page shows This cart cannot be priced, with the reason for each line. Checkout gets no price for that cart until the SKUs are set up with cartons.
Otherwise, Services that could not price this cart lists each service that failed and why:
- No fuel levy: no approved fuel levy is in force for the carrier today.
- No global markup: no global markup is in force.
- Postcode not on rate card: the rate card has no zone for the origin or destination.
- No rate for this lane or weight: the zone pair or weight is not on the rate card.
- Rate card problem: the rate card could not rate the cart.
- SKU has no cartons: a SKU in the cart has none.
A service with no approved rate card in force does not appear at all.
For what each reason means and how to fix it, see Cannot price orders.
