Rate card check failures

What each rate card check means, which ones stop a draft being submitted, and how to fix them. Warnings are shown but never block.

Results are under Checks in the draft's review. A failed blocking check says "must be fixed before submitting". Rates and charges can be edited in the review; zones, postcodes and weight limits need the files fixed and imported again.

Wrong kind of rate card

the document is a "carrier named on the document" rate card, not "your carrier"

Cause. The document names another carrier. The same check fails for an incomplete card, such as one with no postcode zones.

Fix. Discard draft and read the document under the right carrier, or add the missing zones and import again.

When to contact support. If it is the right carrier trading under another name, contact support.

No effective date

set the date the rates take effect

Cause. The draft has no date the rates take effect.

Fix. Choose Edit settings, set Rates take effect on and save.

When to contact support. If the date will not save, contact support.

Zone has no rates

zone "zone code" has no rates; add them or mark the zone not serviced

Cause. A zone in the postcode file has no weight bands to or from it.

Fix. If this service does not deliver there, tick "not serviced" for the zone under Checks and choose Save. Otherwise add its rates to the weight bands file and import again.

When to contact support. If the zone does have rates in your file, contact support.

Zero or negative rates

every rate is zero, so the band charges nothing

Cause. A band has a base charge, per-kg rate and minimum all at zero, or a negative value, or a surcharge amount of zero or below.

Fix. Enter the correct value in the review and save, or correct the file and import again.

When to contact support. If the carrier really charges nothing on that lane, contact support.

Weight breaks have gaps or overlap

gap between one weight and the next weight

Cause. A zone pair's weight bands must start at 0 kg and run on with no gaps or overlaps, and only the last band may have no upper limit.

Fix. Correct the weight limits in the file so each band starts where the last one ends, then import again.

When to contact support. If the bands look continuous in the file, contact support.

Warnings

warning

Cause. Warnings never block submitting:

  • RATE_FALLS: a heavier consignment would cost less than one just under a weight break.
  • LOW_CONFIDENCE: the reader was less than 85% sure of a value. These values are highlighted.
  • BIG_CHANGE: a rate moves more than 25% against the version in force.
  • CUBIC_FACTOR: the document printed no cubic factor, so a default is used, or the factor changes from the version in force.

An unknown GST basis is also a warning, but approval asks you to confirm it. See Rate card approval blocked.

Fix. Check the values against the document and correct any that are wrong.

When to contact support. If you think a warning is wrong, contact support.

Cannot submit for approval

The rate card fails number check(s) to fix before it can be submitted

Cause. A blocking check above has failed, or the card has problems as a whole, such as overlapping postcode ranges. Submit for approval stays greyed out until they are fixed.

Fix. Work through each failed check, then submit. See Rate card approval.

When to contact support. If every check passes and submitting is still refused, contact support.
