Add a carrier and its services
Add each carrier you ship with, from the catalogue or by hand, then add the services you book. Every service gets its own rate card.
Forensik cannot check freight until it knows who you ship with. A carrier holds one or more services (for example Road Express), and each service has its own rate card. Fuel levies are kept separately, per carrier or per service.
You need the Master Admin or Editor role to add carriers.
Add the carrier
- Go to Carriers and rates in the sidebar (
/carriers). - Choose Add carrier.
- Pick a tab:
- From the catalogue: choose the carrier from the list. The catalogue covers StarTrack, Team Global Express, TNT / FedEx, Couriers Please, Aramex, Allied Express, Border Express, Hunter Express, Northline, DHL, Mainfreight, Toll IPEC and Bluestar Global Logistics. A carrier you have already added is not listed again.
- Another carrier: type a Name and a Code. The code is short and unique, for example
BOBS-FREIGHT. It is how your consignment and invoice files name the carrier, and it cannot be changed later.
- Enter the Customer service email. This is required: it is where you send invoice queries, and Recoveries addresses claims to it. Forensik never emails a carrier for you; you send each claim yourself.
- Optionally add an Accounts email and Your account number.
- Choose Add carrier. You land on the carrier's own page.
Toll IPEC, Hunter Express and Bluestar come with ready-made rate card templates, so their files can be read without mapping columns. See Import a rate card.
Add the services
On the carrier's page, choose Add service and fill in:
- Carrier's service code: the code the carrier prints on invoices, for example
EXP. It cannot be changed once saved. - Name, for example Road Express.
- Family: Economy, Standard, Express, Overnight, Same day, Pallet or Other.
- Mode: Road, Air, Rail, Sea or Multimodal.
- Operated by and Delivery commitment (both optional).
Each service card shows its rate card versions and whether a rate card is in force today. Use Import rate card on the service to load its rates.
Plan limits
Active carriers count towards your plan's limit: 2 on Starter, 5 on Growth, and unlimited on Scale and Enterprise. At the limit, the Add carrier button is replaced by a note saying which plan adds more. See Plans and limits.
Change or retire a carrier
Choose Edit carrier to rename it or untick Active. An inactive carrier is hidden from imports, but its history is kept. Services can be edited and made inactive the same way.
If the customer service email is missing, Recoveries asks for it before a claim can be drafted. See Missing carrier email.
