The standard Forensik rate card

One spreadsheet for any carrier, with every service, zone, rate, surcharge and fuel levy. It is read exactly as written, with no AI, on every plan.

When a carrier sends a rate card Forensik has no template for, you can copy it into the standard Forensik rate card. One file covers one carrier: all its services, zones, rates, accessorials and fuel levy. It is read exactly as written, with no AI, on every plan.

Download it

The download links are on Read a document (/rate-cards/read) and on the rate card import page:

  • Excel: the blank workbook.
  • CSV: the same sheets as sections in one file.
  • Example: every sheet filled in for a made-up carrier.

The sheets

The workbook starts with an Instructions sheet (not read), then:

  • Card: Format, Carrier, Effective from, Currency and Amounts include GST. Leave Format as it is, keep Currency as AUD and Amounts include GST as No.
  • Services: one row per service, with the code the carrier prints on invoices, the name, cubic factor in kg per cubic metre (250 when blank), rated weight rounding in grams (1, 100, 250, 500 or 1000; 1000 when blank), rating unit (Consignment or Carton), weight breaks (Whole or Incremental) and an effective date only when a service starts on a different date from the card.
  • Zones: zone code, zone name, postcode from and to, and suburb only where the carrier zones by suburb. Leave Service code blank when every service uses the same zones.
  • Rates: one row per weight break of each zone pair: from zone, to zone, weight from and to in kg, base charge, per kg and minimum charge. Breaks start at 0 kg and run on without gaps. Leave Weight to blank on the last break for no upper limit.
  • Accessorials: charge code, description, standard type, charge type (per consignment, per carton, per kg or percent of base), amount, Y or N for fuel applies and auto-apply, and any zones it is limited to.
  • Fuel levy: one row per percentage change: the percentage (17.5 for 17.5%), applies to Base or Base and accessorials, and the start date. Service code blank means all services.

All amounts are dollars ex GST, for example 8.50. Do not include GST or the fuel levy in rates. Dates are YYYY-MM-DD or DD/MM/YYYY. Keep postcodes as text so 0800 keeps its leading zero.

Upload it

  1. Add the carrier and each of its services under Carriers and rates first. Every service code on the card must match a service of that carrier.
  2. On Read a document, choose the Rate card tab, the carrier, and either Every service in the document or one service.
  3. Optionally enter Effective from. A date you type wins over the card's, and the draft notes the difference.
  4. Upload the .xlsx or .csv file.

Each service becomes a draft rate card version and each Fuel levy row a draft fuel levy version. Nothing is used until approved. See Rate card approval.

All or nothing

Any bad row refuses the whole file, with the sheet and row of each problem. So does a service the carrier does not have in Forensik, amounts marked as including GST, or a currency other than AUD. Nothing is half imported. Fix the rows and upload again.

Old .xls workbooks are never read as the standard card. Save the file as .xlsx or CSV.
