The value report
The four figures on the Value report, how each is worked out, why they are never added together, and how to download a month as CSV.
The Value report at /value shows what Forensik found and what it was worth, one calendar month at a time. Amounts are in AUD, ex GST. Pick a month with the Month box; it opens on the current month.
The four figures
Each figure has its own card with a count of what was counted. They are reported side by side and never added together, because they are different kinds of money: an opportunity is not yet money, realised margin is measured against your own past prices, and an overcharge only becomes money when the carrier credits it.
Freight margin opportunity identified
Consignments shipped in the month that were charged below their expected carrier cost, or below the price your markup rules set. Each consignment counts its larger gap once. Planned free freight is not counted, and gaps under $1.00 are treated as rounding.
Freight margin realised
For each markup rule change in force during the month: the freight charged per shipment in that rule's scope since the change, compared with the 90 days before it (never earlier than the previous version of the rule), multiplied by the shipments since. Shipments are dated by ship date.
Overcharges detected on carrier invoices
Invoice lines billed above the expected cost from your approved rates and fuel levy, found by the freight audit in the month. Unmatched lines and GST are not counted.
Credits actually received
Credit notes from carriers, ex GST, dated by the credit note.
The tables below the figures
- Freight margin realised, by rule change: each rule version, when it took effect, the shipments and average charge before and after, and the result. A change shows "Not measured" when there were no shipments in the 90 days before, or none since the change in this month.
- Checkout conversion before and after a rule change: for stores whose checkout asks Forensik for live rates, the share of those checkouts that became orders, before and after each rule change. It shows "Not available" when either side has no checkouts.
- Under-quotes shipped this month: each under-quoted consignment with what was charged, the expected cost, the markup price and the gap. Select a connote to open the consignment.
If no markup rule changed this month, the realised and conversion tables say so. Change a rule on the Pricing page and results appear once shipments go out under it.
Download the month
Select Download CSV to save the chosen month as forensik-value-YYYY-MM.csv. The file has one row per figure with its amount, count and method (and no total row), followed by the realised margin and checkout conversion for each rule change.
Master Admins are also emailed each month's report, with one paragraph per figure. The link in the email opens this page on that month.
